Winter Classic 2023: Bruins rally behind Jake DeBrusca’s two goals, Pence’s last goal shrugged off
Boston Bruins defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 on Monday in a thrilling comeback win to win the 14th annual Winter Classic in front of a crowd of over 39,000 fans at the renovated Fenway Park.
Bruins forward Jake DeBrusque equalized early in the third period, but just 10 minutes later, he scored the game-winning goal through assists from Taylor Hall and David Krejci for his 16th goal of the season.
With empty nets and a streak of five defeats at stake. penguins won the faceoff with just over 10 seconds left.

Veteran striker Evgeni Malkin put the ball into the net, but time expired as soon as he struck.
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Kasperi Kapanen put the Penguins first on the scoreboard at the 8:40 mark, scoring his sixth goal of the season after Danton Heinen’s cross from behind the net.

But Linus Ullmark held off the Penguins’ offense with 25 saves for Boston.
“There is a thin line between victory and defeat. It all comes down to the finer details,” Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said. “There were fluctuations in momentum on both sides in all periods.”
double NHL Star, Tristan Jarry was out at the end of the third period with an obvious injury. He made eight saves before being replaced by Casey DeSmit, who ended the day with 19 saves.
The NHL-leading Bruins improved to 19-0-3 and are now 9-0-3 in their last 11 games.

Monday marked the Bruins’ fifth outdoor game and fourth Winter Classic performance. They previously won in 2010 and most recently in 2019 against Chicago Blackhawks at Notre Dame Stadium.
