US Masters: Scott Stallings sent an invitation to his namesake

Key points
  • Scott Stallings was waiting for an invitation to play at the Masters.
  • But the invitation was sent to another Scott Stallings by mistake.
  • The tournament takes place in Georgia in April.
Golfer Scott Stallings was worried that his invitation to the prestigious Masters Tournament would get lost in the mail.
It turns out that it has already been delivered: to another Scott Stallings, who happened to live in the same US state.

An amateur golfer with the same name sent the three-time PGA Tour winner a private message on Twitter that included photos of his invitation and the words, “I’m 100% sure this is NOT for me.”

“I think we have some confusion about our names, our wives’ names and geographic location,” the post reads. “I play, but wow! Not at your level by any means… I’m really not joking, I promise.”
The former world number 53 shared a message with his 54,000 followers on Twitter, along with the caption, “Literally checked my inbox five times a day and got a random message yesterday.”

Another Mr. Stallings posted a video of him sending the invitation on Monday.

Several of Stallings’ followers suggested offering “the other Scott” free US Masters tickets or a caddy opportunity, with one user saying, “The TV crews will eat that up.”
“If I was the ‘other Scott’ I would come and go to the training ground just for a laugh,” wrote another user. “Seeing the look on their faces… would be epic!”

The US Masters is one of the four largest professional golf tournaments in the world, taking place this April in Georgia, USA.
