‘Unsafe and unprofessional’: Richard Marles expresses concern over Aust-China naval incident

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell reveals there has been an untimely naval incident between Australian and Chinese ships.

The incident came just as relations were beginning to strengthen between the two nations.

Reportedly, Australian Naval divers received minor injuries after contact with sonar from a Chinese Naval ship, despite Australian communication to China’s vessel that the divers were nearby.

Defence Minister Richard Marles confirmed the incident and says the Australian government has “expressed its serious concerns” over the “unsafe and unprofessional interaction”.

“Australia expects all countries, including China, to operate their militaries in a professional and safe manner.”
