UM football coach Jim Harbaugh helps police clear a road in Ann Arbor

Jim Harbaugh, head football coach at the University of Michigan, helped police clear a blocked road in Ann Arbor during a winter storm that toppled trees and power lines in the area on Wednesday, Feb. 22. According to the police, around 20:00. in the middle of an ice storm,” Ann Arbor officer Howard Cooper was trying to remove a large tree blocking the junction of Devonshire Road and Londonderry Road when a van pulled up. “The driver then parked and exited the vehicle,” the agency wrote on Twitter. “To Cooper’s surprise, the Good Samaritan was @CoachJim4UM, who wanted to help clear the way. Then ofc Cooper gave the trainer a pair of work gloves and the two of them got to work.” Ann Arbor police said Harbaugh and Cooper managed to remove the fallen tree. “After about ten minutes they were able, inch by inch, to move the entire tree to clear a lane for traffic,” the police wrote. “We thank Coach Harbaugh for being a valued member of the Ann Arbor community and helping Ofc Cooper.” Speaking to local media, Cooper said, “It’s not every day there’s someone who’s so willing to jump out and help you, so it was amazing.” Credit: Ann Arbor Police via Storyful
