Ukrainian athletes refute the Russian position of Thomas Bach

IOC President Thomas Bach should learn from history when it comes to his decision to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, said one of Ukraine’s most famous former athletes, Olga Saladukha.

It’s been a year since Russia invaded Ukraine – with the help of its ally Belarus – and Saladukha, now a member of the Ukrainian parliament, said it was inconceivable that Bach’s wish for athletes from both countries to compete in Paris should become a reality.

Saladuha said that Bach was “an intelligent man” and he should see historical parallels between World War II and the present.
