The new map shows the best places to survive the zombie apocalypse, just like in The Last of Us
HBO’s The Last of Us season may be over, but the idea of a zombie apocalypse is still on everyone’s mind, especially if they can get out of it alive.
A new map showing the best-prepared states in the US could be a life saver. California would be a death trap, but Wyoming seems like a safe haven.
Researchers have used over 1000 Google search engines to create a map that shows populated states such as New York and Texas to be avoided, while mountainous states such as North Dakota And Montana even better places to hide.
The idea of a zombie apocalypse is still science fiction, but the map reflects parts of The Last of Us, such as Boston being overrun by fungus-infested people and the clickers barely touching the Midwestern states.

California is considered the least prepared, especially for people who live close to densely populated areas like San Francisco or Los Angeles.
Along with places to avoid, the company has found that Texas, Pennsylvania, and Florida are some of the worst places in the event of a zombie invasion.
Texas has about 28 million people, Florida has 21 million, and Pennsylvania has about 13 million.
However, most of them in California – more than 40 million people.
This information is consistent with a 2015 study by a group of researchers at Cornell University that focused on a fictional zombie outbreak as an approach to modeling the disease.
“Cities will fall quickly, but it will take weeks for zombies to infiltrate less densely populated areas and months to reach the northern mountain time zone,” the team shared in an interview. Press release.
“If you somehow find yourself in the middle of a fictional zombie epidemic and want to survive as long as possible, run to the northern Rocky Mountains.”
Most of America would have fallen in four weeks, but it would take the zombies “a very long time” to reach the most remote corners of the country.
Those outlying locations, according to the new map, include Wyoming, Alaska, Vermont, and North and South Dakota.

As Joel and Ellie travel through Wyoming and Colorado, they have more run-ins with horrible people than zombie-like people.
These states have the smallest population in the US, with Wyoming having 580,000 people, Alaska with 730,000 people, and Vermont with about 630,000 people.
North Dakota has a population of 770,000 and South Dakota has 820,000.
Vermont is in New England, a densely populated area but mostly covered in forests and farmland.
Most of the inhabitants are self-supporting farmers, making them one of the most prepared to rise from the dead flesh-eating zombies.
HBO’s The Last of Us begins with Joel and Ellie attempting to leave Boston, overrun by clicker, roaming herds, and travel to Salt Lake City, Utah.
Much of the action with fungus-infected people occurs before they leave the city and then back to Kansas City, another densely populated area.

However, a 2015 study says that wherever Americans try to hide, Cornell researchers concluded that in the long run, when zombies attack, “we’re pretty much doomed.”
