LandBank loans for the onion sector reached P1.1B

LOANS provided by the Land Bank of the Philippines to the country’s onion sector reached 1.1 billion pesos as of the end of September this year. LandBank said in a statement on Friday that additional loans worth 102.9 million pesos are also under development to support onion production and trade, and to purchase refrigeration equipment.

Moratorium on land loans will benefit 500,000 ARBs

Agrarian Reform Minister Conrado Estrella 3rd said more than half a million Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) are expected to benefit from a one-year moratorium on land depreciation payments and the corresponding 6 percent annual interest. Estrella said the depreciation and interest suspension applies to 1.18 million hectares of agricultural land provided by the 654,000 ARB.
