The goal also helped Matzatzza Pitori beat the team of choice 2-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

In the 79th minute, Grobler saved a penalty for SuperSport and while goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner drew to ruin Grobler’s night when he saved a penalty, the veteran striker scored from the rebound to make sure he would join the likes of Siyabonga Nomwete, Mabhuti. Hanieza, Emmanuel “Tico-Tico” Bukuane, Collins Mbezuma and Daniel “Mambush” Mudau, who have scored over 100 PSL goals.

There were several moments before Grobler’s centenary celebrations early in the game: Wade Joost’s early free kick questioned Gavin Hunt’s defense as the ball went straight through the wall, forcing goaltender Ricardo Goss to make a save.

Although the danger was cleared, Goss’s save looked awkward as he couldn’t resist and had to see the ball land in the path of striker Maritzburg. However, the second bite was not strong as the ball went wide.

At the opposite end, the player in the middle, Cedric Muvkhali, did not notice a clean handball from a Maritzburg player who handballed in the box in an attempt to deflect a SuperSport attack. Patrick Maswangagnini crossed from the right, finding Tamsanka Gabuza, whose header was stopped incorrectly. However, the referee stopped the game, much to the dismay of Hunt and his team.

Hunt’s first sub came in for Gabuse, making way for the fast-paced Gamfani Lung. It took the Zimbabwean player some time before he started the engine, but once he was up and running, he became a threat from the right to the Maritzburg defenders.

Lungu was the one who instigated the move that resulted in the SuperSport goal when he crossed into the box and he proved too strong for the Maritzburg defenders to handle as the ball landed on Keegan Johannes alley and the youngster was not wrong. and overtook Liner in the 69th minute, breaking the stalemate.

10 minutes later, Grobler made it 2-0 to SuperSport from the penalty spot and put the game out of Maritzburg’s reach.

In their next assignment, Matsatsantsa A Pitori will host another KwaZulu-Natal team in the Golden Arrows who are aiming for a top eight finish.

Meanwhile, Team Davids will welcome Eric Tinkler’s Cape Town City.
