Sunak: Israel has right to defend itself but must act within humanitarian law

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak opened the Global Food Security Summit in London by reiterating his stance that Israel has the right to defend itself but added: “It must also act within international humanitarian law.” He said the UK is pushing for substantive humanitarian pauses, “because the suffering of innocent civilians must end”. Mr Sunak will use a separate speech in London to update the public on the economic situation ahead of Wednesday’s autumn statement.
