Stefanos Tsitsipas beat the fearless Karen Khachanov to reach the final of the Australian Open for the first time

Stefanos Tsitsipas made it to the first final of the Australian Open with a 7-6(2) 6-4 6-7(6) 6-3 victory over Friday’s 18th-placed Russian Karen Khachanov and the Greek, seeded third, came close to becoming world number 1.

Tsitsipas, who crashed three times in the semi-finals at Melbourne Park, will fight for the title with the favorite Novak Djokovic or Tommy Paul.

After winning his first Grand Slam crown on Sunday, Tsitsipas finished second. 1st place belongs to the Spaniard Carlos Alcaras, who is absent from the tournament due to injury.
