Sir Ed Davey criticizes Rwandan government’s ‘vanity project’ as home minister visits Kigali

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey said the government’s policy of deporting people entering the UK illegally to Rwanda is a “vanity project” for the home secretary. Suella Braverman arrived in the Rwandan capital Kigali on Saturday. She travels with journalists from GB News and PA Media, the UK’s national press agency, but Sir Ed said the “free press” was not invited to visit. “Refusing to invite the free press to scrutinize her politics means she has to pay for the entire trip herself,” Sir Ed said, “and not at the expense of the taxpayer.”
