Shohei Ohtani has surgery on elbow, not expected to pitch in 2024

Shohei Ohtani underwent surgery on his elbow on Tuesday morning and will not return to the two-way role that catapulted him to superstardom in Japan and North America until the 2025 MLB season.

Ohtani, in a post on Instagram, said, “Everything went very well” with the procedure.

“I will work as hard as I can and do my best to come back on the diamond stronger than ever,” Ohtani wrote.
