“Shameful act”: police accused of arresting anti-monarchy protesters

According to Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers, it was “absolutely disgraceful” for the London Metropolitan Police to deprive Republican demonstrators of the right to protest the king’s coronation.

Mr Myers said the anti-monarchy group could call for an investigation into the event.

“They had a lot of meetings with the Met Police before the coronation – they said they were going to exercise their right to protest peacefully,” Myers told Sky News anchor Caroline Di Russo.

“I think it’s widely accepted that this was a pretty shameful act on the part of the police that day, and there are going to be big questions to be answered.”
