Doha – Japan striker Ritsu Doan said he was particularly pleased with his team’s stunning victory over Germany at the World Cup on Wednesday after having to endure condescending comments in Germany before heading to Qatar.
With eight members of the Japanese national team playing for German league clubs, goals from Freiburg’s Doan and VfL Bochum’s Takuma Asano gave Samurai Blue a stunning win at the Khalifa International Stadium.
“Before I came to the World Cup, people in Germany said it was going to be an easy game against Japan,” Doan told reporters on Thursday.
