This was announced on Wednesday by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak. Anti-missile defense system Patriot that Germany offered Poland to go to Ukraine instead.

“Following further missile strikes (by Russia), I approached (Germany) with a request to transfer the proposed (Poland) Patriot batteries to (Ukraine) and deploy them on the western border,” Blaszczak wrote on Twitter.

“This will protect (Ukraine) from further casualties and blackouts and improve security on our eastern border.”

Ukrainian Ambassador to Warsaw Vasyl Zvarych thanked him on Twitter and added: “We need as many modern anti-missile systems as possible to keep the skies over Ukraine safe. Successful defense (of Ukraine) against Russia is a contribution to the security of Poland and all of Europe, because Russian terror knows no borders.”

Germany’s offer to Poland came after rocket entered Poland and killed two people near the border with Ukraine on November 15. Polish and NATO leaders said the projectile was likely fired by Ukrainian forces defending their country from Russian strikes and that the incident appears to have been an accident.

A longtime mainstay of US military operations: Anti-aircraft missile system Patriot – “Patriot” stands for “Phased Array Tracking Radar for Target Interception” – designed to counter and destroy incoming short-range ballistic missiles, advanced aircraft and cruise missiles.

The battery includes missiles and launchers, a radar that detects and tracks targets, and a battle control station.

The Patriot Missile System has undergone several upgrades and upgrades since its first deployment in 1982.

Its first combat use was in Gulf Warwhich was also the first time an air defense system had destroyed an enemy tactical ballistic missile.
