Protesters chant in Paris after the pension reform bill is passed

Protests took place across France on Thursday, March 16, after President Emmanuel Macron pushed through pension reform without a vote in parliament. The government has used a special constitutional right, known as Article 49:3, to raise France’s retirement age from 62 to 64, reports France 24. The controversial reform has sparked nationwide strikes since January. Footage filmed Thursday evening shows protesters chanting and lighting flares at Place de la Concorde in Paris.
