Pirates defender Seabisi expected a “tough” confrontation with SuperSport

It wasn’t easy, but it was important to fight hard to win over SuperSport United, especially at home,” said Orlando Pirates guard Nkosinati Sibisi.

The Pirates had to give it their all in DStv’s Premier League matchup against SuperSport for second place in the magazine, and they were 1-0 winners at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

A late penalty in the draw by defender Tapelo Xoki gave the Pirates three points, which was very important for the Sea Robber in the race for second place.

However, the Soweto giants remain in third place in the standings with 37 points, while SuperSport also remain in second place with 39 points, with both sides playing 23 games.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, SuperSport is a great team, it’s no coincidence that they are there (in second place). We knew we had to fight, especially since we were playing at home, we have to make this stadium (Orlando Stadium) our fortress,” said Sibisi, who was named man of the match after the game.

“It was not easy, especially since they played long balls, and Bradley Grobler played well in the air, and they also brought in Tamasanka Gabuza, and this did not make our job any easier. But we fought and we knew we had to keep a clean sheet because the guys in front would score one (goal) for us.”

The victory over SuperSport was the Bucks’ third consecutive win in all competitions, and Seabisee is hopeful they will continue to win for the remainder of the season.

“Our mentality was positive, we have a bunch of great players who have a great attitude. We are starting to develop this winning mentality and hopefully it will continue for the rest of the season.”
