As ONDC is the biggest e-commerce disruptor worldwide, companies will need to rebuild their processes and networks. It’s not an instant thing, but the scaling is huge,” he said.

More than two million retailers will have access to e-commerce, more than 250 million shoppers will be able to purchase goods and services, and the platform will achieve 75 percent pin coverage across India, adding that ONDC will split opportunities across industry verticals, the report says. . “The consumer products industry is the most advanced when it comes to ONDC awareness. We tell marketers how ONDC is going to change e-commerce and how they can win this game,” said Anupriya Acharya, CEO of Publicis Groupe, South Asia.

According to the report, banking and financial services, travel, transportation, logistics, catering and hospitality are other industries that are integrating with the intermediary in addition to the consumer goods industry.

“ONDC is a bit harder to implement than just being there. UPI businesses, and companies need to streamline their own processes, technologies and partnerships, in addition to rethinking their commercial strategies and supply chains. We need many players, from consultants and advisors to technology and infrastructure providers. We want them to come into play when this ecosystem starts to buzz,” added Gupta.

Local deliveries next door for categories including grocery, fashion, home goods, flights and insurance, among others, will be available at ONDC. Currently, the technical platform does not plan to charge for the network. However, a tiered transaction processing fee of up to 3% may apply in the future.
