Tens of thousands of visitors arrived on the first day to see what the biggest brands had in store for the future, from 6G to the Metaverse.

Daily Mail technical editor Jim Norton visited the Lenovo booth to see the laptop’s retractable screen in action.

The screen has an inconspicuous button on the side, allowing users to expand the screen quickly and easily.

Both office workers who need to see more cells in a spreadsheet and web designers who need more room for lines of code, Lenovo believes the expandable screen will be useful.

The company is aiming to make it durable enough to be used 20,000 to 30,000 times over its life cycle, though no further details on weight or battery life are given.

The company also introduced an extended smartphone – in contrast to the current trend among other major brands to have foldable phones to increase the screen size.

The demo version grows vertically from a 5″ display to a 6.5″ display.

Also unveiled at MWC was the Nubia 3D tablet, a £900 tablet that can bring movies, games and even Zoom conferences to life by showing them all in 3D.

Two AI-enabled cameras above the screen track the user’s every eye as they look at the screen, allowing the screen to look 3D wherever you look.

The 12.4-inch device, which will launch globally next month, can show movies and games in 3D and will also work on Zoom.

It can also convert 2D images and videos to 3D, allowing users to look at products like the latest shoes as if they were in front of them.

Chinese technology firm Nubia, owned by ZTE, equipped the device with a 2.5k screen and four symmetrical speakers with Dolby Surround Sound support.
