North Korea fires 4 more ballistic missiles after US and South Korea stop exercises

North Korea on Saturday The South Korean military has reportedly launched four more short-range ballistic missiles in the western part of the Yellow Sea.

The missile launch comes after the US and South Korea completed a six-day military exercise dubbed “Vigilant Storm” involving hundreds of troops in what Pyongyang claims was a full-scale invasion practice.

SOUTH KOREA BLOWS PLANES AS NORTH KOREA LAUNCHES 180 BORDER FLIGHTS

North Korea responded to this previously planned exercise with the launch of dozens of short-range ballistic missiles and is suspected of attempting to deploy an ICBM in a failed test.

Saturday’s launches began shortly after 11:30 a.m. in North Korea and lasted nearly 30 minutes, Reuters reported.

The short-range ballistic missiles flew about 80 miles out to sea and reached an altitude of 10 miles.

US AND SOUTH KOREA CONTINUE AIR FORCE EXERCISES AFTER ICBM LAUNCH IN NORTH KOREA

Fears have grown that Pyongyang may be preparing to resume nuclear testing for the first time since 2017, with leaders of the world’s leading democracies calling on North Korea to “abandon” its nuclear program and “any other weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs.”

G7 on Friday urged “DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,] immediately stop its destabilizing activities, fully comply with all legal obligations under the relevant UN Security Council resolutions [United Nation’s Security Council Resolutions]and comply with international nuclear safeguards.

South Korea was forced to take off 80 warplanes on Friday after Pyongyang deployed about 180 warplanes near the common military demarcation line that divided the two countries after the end of the Korean War in 1953.

North Korea has demanded that the US and South Korea end “provocative” aerial exercises after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced on Thursday that the drills would be extended to ensure the US and South Korea’s ability to “fight tonight if necessary.”

A spokesman for the North Korean Foreign Ministry issued a statement late on Friday warning that “continued provocations are bound to be followed by prolonged opposition,” Reuters reported.
