Megyn Kelly warns America ‘will burn’ if Donald Trump is jailed

Megyn Kelly has warned America “will burn” and descend into riots if Donald Trump is jailed before the 2024 election.

‘The Megyn Kelly Show’ host was referring to an ongoing case where US District Judge Tanya Chutkan is deciding whether Trump can be charged for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 election.

The podcast host on Thursday’s episode also cited Andy McCarthy’s piece in the National Review suggesting a conviction might affect Trump’s 2024 prospects.

“There will be riots, the country will burn if she sends him to jail prior to November 2024, and Andy, he’s the smartest guy we all know, is saying ‘Don’t rule it out.’ So where do we go from this day to that?” Kelly asked National Review editor-in-chief Rich Lowry and senior political correspondent Jim Geraghty.

“Chutkan might not let Trump go free on bond when he is likely convicted in that federal case in DC.”

America’s 45th president is facing multiple legal challenges, including a $US250 million fraud accusation in New York and allegations related to the Capitol riots.

Even if convicted, Trump’s legal team intends to appeal court decisions against him, including Judge Chutkan’s ruling denying him absolute immunity from election interference charges.
