Manchester City set to win RB Leipzig’s last 16 Champions League second legs

After going through the first leg, Manchester City will be looking to secure a place in the Champions League quarter-finals in the last 16 second legs at home to RB Leipzig.

After the draw in Germany three weeks ago, the Blue Skies are second in the English Premier League, two points behind Arsenal, who currently sit in the coveted first place.

While the Citizens are favorites to win at the Etihad Stadium, a loss to boss Pep Guardiola’s men could end their exit from the tournament.

This is the fourth time in 18 months that the teams have met in the Champions League, having drawn in the same group last season.

City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne warns this win won’t be easy: “I think we’ve played them (RB Leipzig) three times in the last two years. And I think we already know what this team is. This is an energetic, high-quality, intensive team.

“And you know, they have Red Bull DNA to play with a lot of players in the middle,” he continued.

In the other match of the day in the Champions League, Porto will face Inter Milan after losing the first leg 1-nil.

The Portuguese club have lost only three home matches this season, however, without playmaker Otavio, who was suspended due to a red card in Italy.

Defender João Mario was also sidelined with a knee injury due to a knee injury.

Porto’s defeat in Milan was followed by another defeat in the Portuguese Championship, but after that they won two in a row. Simone Inzaghi’s men have lost two of their three matches since beating Porto, including a modest 2-1 La Spezia in the Italian league on Friday.

Porto, winners of the 2004 Champions League, are trying to break into the bottom eight for the first time since 2021.

Inter’s last appearance in the quarterfinals was in 2011.
