Losing a child to a dog attack should be a ‘national disgrace’

Sky News anchor Chris Kenny says the loss of a child to a dog attack should be a “national disgrace” following the death of a two-year-old in the New South Wales town of Caura yesterday.

He said the nation “shrugs collectively”.

“Any dog big enough to kill a child, and there are a hell of a lot of these dogs, each of them must be under the control of their owner at all times,” he said.

“And if not, then the owner should be held responsible for any consequences.

“No dog owner has the right to take risks for the sake of other people’s children.”

Mr Kenny added that the local council needed to crack down on dogs and their owners and “doesn’t care how unpopular it might be.”
