Lizzo brings down the house in an absolutely stunning tribute to Tina Turner

Lizzo honored an icon of late music Tina Turner with an amazing moment in Phoenix Wednesday night.

“As a black girl in a rock band, I wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the queen of rock and roll,” she said. “And remember: without Tina Turner, there would be no rock and roll.”

She then launched into “Proud Mary,” one of Turner’s signature tunes, complete with some Turner-inspired dance moves that most of the sold-out Footprint Center sang along to:

“Proud Mary” was 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival hit. Ike and Tina Turner famously reworked the song, and two years later it became a hit for them – and a staple of Tina Turner’s live performances for the rest of her career:
