“Legitimate” Questions About Tax Credits for “Mega” Super Accounts

The minister of public services says there are “legitimate” issues related to tax breaks for “mega” retirement accounts.

Bill Shorten wondered if the government could afford to continue giving tax breaks to people who already have a few million in super.

“The government is not responsible for not weighing all the issues because it’s an inconvenient truth, but our predecessors, the Coalition, left a trillion-dollar debt,” Shorten said.

However, the minister confirmed that a “final decision” on any changes to the tax credits has yet to be made.

“As far as I know, no final decision has been made yet,” he said.
