Kentucky Owl landed in Malaysia
ON On March 15, Kentucky Owl unveiled two of its bestselling titles at Director’s Cut, a luxury whiskey bar located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.
The presentation featured Kentucky Owl The Wiseman, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Kentucky Owl The Wiseman, Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey.
At the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2022, Straight Bourbon won a double gold medal and Straight Rye took the gold medal. The former also made the Whiskey Advocate Top 20 for 2021.
During the tasting, Kentucky Owl Global Ambassador Tom Jones told attendees about the history of Kentucky Owl and the two whiskeys produced, as well as Kentucky Owl Confiscated Bourbon.
Bourbon on the top shelf
A blend of four Kentucky Straight Bourbons, selected for individual taste. Straight Bourbon is a smooth yet complex bourbon that can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail.
The whiskey itself has a caramel flavor with hints of allspice, citrus and oak notes.
As for Straight Rye, it’s a traditional rye made with 95% mash handpicked by Kentucky Owl’s master blender, John Rye.
Whiskey has a rich and spicy aroma with hints of fresh rye bread, hints of sweet caramel and cinnamon. Upon tasting, the whiskey’s spicy character is instantly felt as it instantly fills the mouth with a long finish.
It starts with fresh rye bread, cinnamon and butter toast, and ends with a hint of walnut.
The whiskeys went well with the rye bread and starters that were provided.
On the other hand, Confiscated participated in the tasting “for fun”. This is an unaged sourced whiskey and is almost completely shrouded in mystery, including its composition.
Compared to Straight Bourbon and Straight Rye Confiscated falls somewhere in between. It is extremely well balanced, with a pleasant combination of sweet and dry flavors, and quite flexible; as Jones explained, it can be sipped, works with ice or water, and mixes very well.
worthy origin
Considered the most advanced American whiskey in the world, the current Kentucky Owl was rejuvenated in 2014 by Dickson Dedman, great-great-grandson of Charles Dedman, who founded the original Kentucky Owl Bourbon Distillery in 1879.
Dixon dreams of bringing the Kentucky Owl back to life. It started with him handpicking and blending casks to create a new small batch of Kentucky Owl. With no particular taste in mind, Dixon took samples from each cask and combined them in different ways.
In 2014, Kentucky Owl was resurrected with the release of Part 1, which took six years to complete. It was made from some of the finest bourbon in Kentucky and bottled with cask proof, uncut and unfiltered.
In 2017, the Stoli group bought Kentucky Owl as their flagship ultra-premium whisky.
