Kaoru Mitoma and Ritsu Doan named to Japan squad for March friendly matches

Japan’s 2022 FIFA World Cup stars Kaoru Mitoma and Ritsu Doan were included in Hajime Moriyasu’s 26-man squad on Wednesday for the team’s upcoming home friendlies against Uruguay and Colombia.

There were 10 changes in the Qatar manager’s roster: veteran defenders Maya Yoshida, Yuto Nagatomo and Hiroki Sakai, and striker Takumi Minamino were notable absentees, while Celtic duo Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate remained unnoticed.

Three young J. League guards, Ryotaro Tsunoda, Kashif Bangnagande and Riku Handa, received their first call-ups, along with LASK forward Keito Nakamura, who was in top form in Austria.
