Jewish-Owned Restaurant Targeted in ‘Blatant Act of Antisemitism’

A group of pro-Palestinian protesters surrounded a Jewish-owned restaurant in Philadelphia on Sunday, December 3, in what Pennsylvania Gov Josh Shapiro has denounced as a “blatant act of antisemitism — not a peaceful protest.” Video posted on X shows the protesters outside Goldie, a restaurant owned by the Israeli-born chef Michael Solomonov. In the video, the chant “Goldie, Goldie you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide” can be heard. X user @thatJVG, who recorded the video, later said he saw stickers reading “Free Palestine” and “This is genocide” on the windows of the restaurant. The Philadelphia Inquirer said hundreds of people demonstrated on the night. Separate video showed premises, including a Starbucks and a TD Bank, were graffitied. Josh Shapiro said on X, “A restaurant was targeted and mobbed because its owner is Jewish and Israeli. This hate and bigotry is reminiscent of a dark time in history.” Credit: @thatJVG via Storyful
