Jennifer Lopez talks about Ben Affleck tribute album

DAYS after the announcement of their new album, It’s me… nowJennifer Lopez caught up with Zane Lowe at Apple Music 1 to talk about the record, which will be her first in eight years.

The album is a follow-up to her 2002 album. It’s me… Thenwhich was dedicated and inspired by her highly publicized relationship with Ben Affleck at the time.

“We captured me at that moment in time when I was reunited with the love of my life and we decided that we would be together forever. The whole message of the album [This Is Me…Then] is: “This love exists. This is true love,” said Lopez Lowe.

She continued, “Now I’m wondering what message [This Is Me…Now] it is – if you, like me sometimes, have lost hope, almost given up, don’t do it. True love exists and some things last forever and it’s real. I want to get this message out to the whole world, and that takes a lot of vulnerability.”

Nearly 17 years after calling off their engagement in 2004, the couple started dating again in 2021. Reflecting on that period in her life, Lopez admitted that she refused to perform Affleck-inspired songs from her 2002 album, which included songs such as Dear Benbecause of the pain of separation.

She recalled: “When we canceled this wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life, and I honestly felt like I was dying,” she said. “It sent me into a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn’t get it right. But now, 20 years later, it really has a happy ending.”

No official release date has been set It’s me… nowbut it is expected to arrive next year.
