Japan head coach Hajime Moriyasu has challenged Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate to friendly matches.

Scottish Premier League Player of the Year Kyogo Furuhashi and Celtic teammate Reo Hatate were named in Japan’s 26-man squad announced on Thursday for next month’s friendlies at home against El Salvador and Peru.

Striker Furuhashi, who scored 25 goals, and midfielder Hatate helped Celtic win a second successive Scottish league title after both were left out of Samurai Blue’s World Cup squad at the end of last year.

About Furuhashi, Japanese manager Hajime Moriyasu said, “I want him to take positions to score and assist many times.”
