Japan beat the USA 3-2 to win the World Baseball Classic.

Japan won its third World Classic Baseball Championship on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory over the United States in Miami.

Hideki Kuriyama’s men fell behind early in the second half after a solo home run from Traya Turner to left field, but batsman Munetaka Murakami responded with a blast of his own to equalize, with Lars Nutbaar driving 2-1 down, at the bottom of the frame.

Kazuma Okamoto’s fourth-inning homer extended Japan’s lead to 3-1, and the bullpen held the Americans in one place until Yu Darvish conceded a solo home run to Kyle Schwarber in the eighth inning.
