Japan advanced to WBC final after defeating Mexico

Japan came from behind to beat Mexico 6-5 in the semi-finals of the World Baseball Classic with two runs by Munetaka Murakami in the ninth inning.

Trailing 5-4 in the ninth, Murakami, who had struggled through most of the tournament, hit a wall in downtown Miami at LoanDepot Park to send the two-time Japanese champion to Tuesday’s final against the defending United States champion.

Murakami, who was 0 for 4, blew a 1-1 fastball out of St. Louis. Louis Cardinals pitcher Giovanni Gallegos.
