Janelle James outbid Sheryl Lee Ralph at the Golden Globes

The actor reflected on the cast of Elementary Abbott winning the Best Musical/Comedy Series award during Wednesday’s appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.

James explained that she was determined to shout out her mother at last month’s ceremony, and she admitted to enjoying “free drinks” before taking the stage.

When Ralph took the microphone after show creator Quinta Brunson gave her speech, the actor began thanking his peers and viewers at home before James abruptly jumped up and yelled into the microphone, “I love you mom!”

“Firstly, I was drunk, that’s one thing. I texted my mom all the time, so I thought, “I’m going to talk to my mom,” James told host Jennifer Hudson.

“But not to disrespect the lady. Sheryl Lee Ralph,” she continued, before noting that she had A little drinks, making a drinking movement with his hand.

Abbott Elementary School won the Golden Globe.

Brunson won Best Television Actress in a Musical/Comedy Series and Tyler James Williams won Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series.

In September, the popular ABC sitcom won three Emmy Awards. Ralph, who won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, delivered a memorable — and of course non-stop — acceptance speech in which she sang powerful a cappella performance by Diane Reeves “Endangered Species”.
