James Cromwell thought he’d be fired from The Heirs for this one scene

But it turns out that before filming the scene, the “Babes” star didn’t quite convey the calm confidence of Ewan or Farmer Hoggett, according to an interview. posted Thursday in Vulture.
Speaking to an entertainment website, Cromwell said he was so nervous before filming that he thought it could spell disaster for his career.
“I had a little trouble with it,” Cromwell said. “I couldn’t remember my lines at all. I could make them in the room myself, but as soon as I walked away from them for five minutes, they completely disappeared.
Cromwell expressed concern to episode director Mark Mylod. who said his character might have records on hand during a speech at the funeral of media mogul Ewan’s brother Logan Roy (Brian Cox).
“You can practically read it,” Mylod said. WITHRomwell “Just raise your head at the most inopportune moment.”
However, this did not help to calm the owner of the Emmy Award. He told Vulture that he had “increasing trouble remembering lines” and was worried that he would be “fired” from the HBO drama as a result.
“I was never fired,” Cromwell said. “But everyone gets fired for something!”
He added that he felt pressured to deliver a stellar performance because the eulogy written for Yuen appealed to the show’s cast and crew.
“Everyone told me: “Oh, I read your speech! What a wonderful speech! What are you going to do with the speech?” he recalled.
Fortunately, a casual remark from Cromwell’s aide changed the situation.
“I think I know what’s wrong. You’ve had COVID for a long time,” she told him, according to the actor.
“And then a miracle happened,” he said. “The whole text came back to me. The speech was damn beautiful, don’t you think?”
During the episode titled “Church and State”, Yuen uses Logan’s televised funeral as an opportunity to blame his brother for his politics and greed. The moment is particularly piquant, since Logan’s media empire was already in a fragile state after his death.
Ewen begins his eulogy with a half-hearted attempt to humanize his brother, recounting their childhood journey to North America from Scotland. During the Second World War. Ewan also offers a surprising revelation about why Logan was so sensitive about the topic of their dead sister Rose – secret the show had never been considered up to this point.
Yuen then proceeds to pay. Ultimately, he characterizes his powerful brother as a man who “closes men’s hearts.”
