Immigration may not be the ‘only driver’ of economic growth in Australia

Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume says immigration has been a “major part” of Australia’s economic growth, but should not be its “panacea”.

“This cannot be the only driver of economic growth,” Ms Hume told Sky News Australia.

“It really does seem like the government has raised a white flag on productivity, which is another really important driver of economic growth.”
