Greens and crossbenchers push for negative gearing

The Greens and key crossbenchers are putting negative gearing changes back on the political agenda after it was revealed 65 per cent of federal politicians own two or more properties.

103 of 151 MPs own two or more properties, with 88 of those declaring they own at least one investment property.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says he has no plans to change negative gearing.

The Coalition is warning, however, that he cannot be trusted after Labor’s backflip on stage three tax cuts.

Independent Senators Jacqui Lambie and David Pocock have joined the Greens in calling for a cut to concessions.
