German authorities have arrested a Syrian suspected of belonging to the group “Islamic state”
German authorities arrest Syrian accused of belonging to unit Islamic State group in his homeland who has kidnapped and killed opponents, prosecutors said on Wednesday.
The man, identified only as Asmael K. under German confidentiality rules, was arrested in the western city of Essen on Monday. He is accused of being a member of a foreign terrorist group.
Suspect accused of joining IS in Syria in late 2013 by taking a public oath of allegiance extremist group and belonging to an IS unit that “abducted and executed opposing militants and other undesirables,” the federal prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
