Netflix clearly wants its users to chill more on the platform and introduced gaming for the first time. As long as you have a Netflix subscription, you can play games. The game is downloaded as a separate app on your phone/tablet and Netflix remains the gateway. It’s not as if you can play games on the Netflix app but it’s just that the subscription gives you access to certain titles. There are games on popular Netflix shows like Narcos, Stranger Things, among others. Other titles include Hello Kitty and Football Manager.

Apple’s gaming push

The Mac has always been an impressive machine yet its Achilles’ heel was gaming. For hardcore gamers, even the most powerful Mac lacked certain features. Apple introduced gaming mode for macOS. Whether you’re a casual gamer or a seasoned pro, Apple’s gaming mode aims to elevate your gaming experience on the Mac. In typical Apple style, you don’t need to toggle it on or not as the Mac automatically goes into gaming mode when you are playing any game. Apple’s M-series processors are also getting gaming-heavy indicating the company’s desire to convert some of the hardcore gamers to the Mac. You can play almost any AAA title on the Mac with the gaming mode — something that previous generation of macOS didn’t allow.

YouTube, the go-to platform for everything from cat videos to DIY tutorials, is stepping into the gaming ring as well. Recognising the massive audience of gamers, Google introduced YouTube Playables, which is available only for Premium subscribers. If you have a premium subscription, you will see a Playables tab. Here you will see a list of games including Angry Birds Showdown, Daily Crossword and Freecell Solitaire, among others.
