Former Jets defenseman Le’Veon Bell criticized former coach Adam Geise and admitted to using marijuana before NFL games

Le’Veon Bell failed to achieve the same level of success as with Pittsburgh Steelers when he signed with the New York Jets in 2019, but the three-time Pro Bowl running back apparently pointed the finger at former head coach Adam Geise during an interview last week in which he also admitted to smoking marijuana before NFL games .

Bell, who is currently a free agent, spoke about his failed job with Jets, which ran for less than two seasons, during an appearance on the Steel Here podcast on Friday.

“Bro, we get to New York, and then you immediately know that head coaches are of great importance,” he said. “As soon as I arrive in New York, I will know about it, just like in the first week.”

ALL-PRO RUNNING BACK LE’VEON BELL ADMITS HE WAS ‘SMALL’ AND MAKED A MISTAKE BY NOT SIGNING SIGNING WITH STEELERS

Bell was a one-time All-Pro and a three-time Pro Bowl pick outside the Steelers field. But after a contract dispute, he returned to New York where he signed a four-year, $52.5 million contract, including $35 million guaranteed.

But this move was not what Bell expected.

“The team wasn’t that great, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like if the coach [Mike] Tomlin coached that team, we won at least nine games. Because the team wasn’t that bad, it just looks like that.”

Bell was critical of not being used during games, and even criticized game calls showing that the number 1 was with the Jets. 2018 3rd pick, quarterback Sam Darnold, was left “baffled” by Gaza.

“It’s gotten to the point where Sam Darnold doesn’t even know what the defense of the current line is because he’s so confused by our offense because the coach is confusing him.”

The Jets went 7–9 in Bell’s first season with the team, also coinciding with Geis’ first season. They went 2-14 the following year, but Bell was released in October.

Bell also spoke about his marijuana use, admitting that he smoked regularly, including before NFL games.

“That’s what I did. When I played football, I smoked, bro,” he said. “Even before games, I smoked, went out and ran 150 (yards), two (touchdowns).”

Bell was suspended twice for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy while playing for the Steelers, a team he said he would like to retire with.

“The day I retire will be with Pittsburgh. For example, I’m trying to retire with Pittsburgh. I can show you everything.”
