Engineers want to build the world’s largest spokeless ferris wheel in Seoul in 2025

Forget the London Eye! In 2025, engineers plan to build in Seoul the world’s largest FERRIS FERRIS WHEEL without spokes, 591 feet tall, with stainless steel gondolas and city views.

  • The futuristic Seoul Ring will be built in Seoul’s Haneul Park, South Korea.
  • Its spokeless design differs from the traditional look of Ferris wheels.
  • The Seoul ring will be symbolically located “geographically close to North Korea”

London eyes, Singapore Flyers and Ferris wheels around the world have attracted the attention of both locals and tourists for decades.

But South Korea gotta kick it up a notch with plans to build’the world’s largest non-spoke Ferris wheel, which by 2025 offers stunning views of the capital.

The futuristic Seoul Ring deviates from the traditional look of Ferris wheels thanks to “innovative technology”.

Its development will take place in a former junkyard in Haneul Park, which the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) has called “the gateway to Seoul.”

An announcement earlier this month said, “The Seoul Ring will not only serve as an entertainment facility, but will also become a cultural complex that will provide visitors with the opportunity to experience the historical significance of Nanjido.

“Innovative technology” will be used to make its appearance stand out from other Ferris wheels.

“In addition, it will provide a variety of festivals, cultural and tourism content and programs, and a place to socialize.”

Once built, the wheel will be 591 feet high. CNN.

By comparison, that’s 149 feet taller than the famous London Eye in the UK, which is 442 feet tall.

The ring is also set to surpass the world’s largest Ferris wheel in Shandong, China. which measures 475 feet high.

Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy views of the Hangang River, downtown Seoul, Namsan Mountain, and even Bukhansan Mountain from the stainless steel capsules.

The site was selected from several alternatives, including Nodeul Island, Yeouido Park and Jamsil, which SMG has been considering since last October.

But in the end, Haneul Park was chosen for its “symbol of inter-Korean reconciliation.”

“Haneul Park is considered a significant site due to its symbolism as a gateway to Seoul and a unified Korea, as well as a place geographically close to North Korea that demonstrates the harmony and reunification of the Korean race,” SMG added.

It is reported that the wheel will take 36 wagons, each of which can accommodate 25 people.

  • It will be built on the site of a former landfill in Haneul Park.
  • Construction should be completed by 2025
  • The Seoul Metropolitan Government claims it will be the “world’s largest” 475-foot Ferris wheel.
  • It will include green technologies to ensure the achievement of sustainable development goals.
  • The wheel will consist of 36 wagons, each of which can accommodate 25 people.

SMG consults with international architecture and engineering experts to ensure the ring is safe and durable.

The Seoul Ring will also include green technologies that are in line with climate change and sustainable development goals.

This is because the city plans to develop more progressive infrastructure projects in collaboration with the private sector.

SMG added, “The Seoul Ring is expected to become the city’s new landmark that will strengthen its global position and the city’s competitiveness, as well as revitalize the local economy.

From Haneul Park, visitors can see the Hangang River, downtown Seoul, Mount Namsan, and even Mount Bukhansan.

“It is also the best place to fulfill the city’s municipal vision of finding harmony between citizens, the planet, the future and the environment (e.g. carbon neutrality, climate change), given Haneul Park’s past as a landfill.”
