Dustin Johnson made nearly $36 million First season LIV Golf, becoming the highest paid player in the county and earning nearly half of his career earnings in just five months.
And he still believes he could do better.
Johnson and fellow GC 4 Aces members Patrick Reed, Talor Gooch and Pat Perez finished the season. LIV Golf Team Championship on Sunday in first place, just one shot above Cameron Smith and Punch GC.
In addition to sharing the $16 million first-place prize, Johnson also took home $18 million for winning the individual title throughout the season, bringing his total LIV Golf earnings to only about $35.6 million.
But 24x PGA Tour Winner still thinks his best golf hasn’t been played yet.
“It was pretty good,” Johnson said via Palm Beach Daily News. “I feel like it should have been a lot better. My season, I played well. I didn’t play my best.”
Johnson won 14% of the $255 million worth of purses and bonuses won by all players in the first year of LIV, according to the Associated Press. In comparison, he earned nearly $75 million from 251 PGA Tour events. according to Sportrak.
In addition to the prize money, Johnson was reported to have agreed to a massive $125 million signing bonus.
“It was amazing,” Johnson said Sunday. “Obviously the fans do it. This week has been incredible. This whole season just got better and better and obviously this finale was incredible.”
