Coins for Christmas | Armstrong Economics

Many people wrote asking if I still had Athenian owls and other coins from the hoards. I will count how many Athenian Owls and Alexanders of Macedon I have left. It won’t be much. I tried to buy a newly discovered 3rd century Gallic hoard for 3000 coins. Of course, they are not all for sale. I am also working on the Persian Darius Siglos hoard, but they are common and not as detailed as the one pictured here. However, it is most likely related to the famous invasion of Greece, defended at the Battle of Marathon. Hoards dating back to the 6th century BC are quite rare compared to the collapse of Rome in the 3rd century AD.

I believe we will have inexpensive $100 or so Roman coins for those who want to give a gift to a child or grandchild in the hope of awakening a love of history.

Hopefully I can post them next week.
