California man sues the Angels after being permanently blind in one eye due to a ball allegedly thrown by a player

According to the complaint, Mermelstein is now at risk of total blindness as he already suffers from a degenerative vision disorder in his right eye.
The civil lawsuit alleges that Lagares, who is currently a free agent, “was under an obligation to do so sensibly and safely” when he decided to throw the ball to the fans, but instead threw the ball so that it reached “over the wall of the field.” , climbed ten rows up and hit the eye of an unsuspecting fan, ”according to The Orange County Register.
