“From the moment this was announced as a murder investigation, our team has worked tirelessly to gather CCTV footage, statements and gather the evidence needed to prosecute Hekko,” said Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe.

Ellingford allegedly had a romantic relationship with one of Heko’s former partners on the night of his death.
Ellingford’s widow shared an emotional testimony, calling her late husband a “truly brilliant father”.

“He was brutally torn from our lives by events that I still cannot understand myself or explain to our boys,” the widow said. “The impact of his death has affected many people in different ways. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.”
