Ben Affleck officially convinced his toughest critic – and his young daughter.
OscarThe winning actor admitted on the red carpet on the red carpet of his latest film, Hypnotic, on Friday that he finally got the family’s approval. Affleck, who shares three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garnersaid the thriller received its first positive review.
“My kids make fun of me all the time and they won’t watch any of my films, but I showed them some clips of it and my daughter said, ‘This really looks interesting!’ Affleck told ET. “So I thought it was the best feedback I could get.”
Affleck added that he hopes others will be just as excited and “walk away from him having really enjoyed the movie.” Robert Rodriguez The film is about a detective who tracks down his kidnapped daughter, only to uncover a secret government-led brainwashing project.
“He really wanted to pay tribute [Alfred] Hitchcock,” Affleck told ET about Rodriguez. “He wanted to make this film feel like classic Hitchcock films – in a way, let the concept and direction become special effects.”
Rodriguez, who burst onto the scene as an independent director in the early 1990s, has since made mainstream genre films such as The Faculty (1998),Sin City(2005) and the Spy Kids franchise. His films have reportedly grossed over $1.5 billion in total.
Affleck revealed last month that he had only recently shown his two children Good Will Hunting. what brought him and the co-author Matt Damon Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 1998 – and started his enduring image as a working-class Bostonian.
“It was interesting for me to watch them watch the movie and see how different their childhood was from my childhood.” he told The Hollywood Reporter“and think about how it must seem to them and how far from their lives and reality.”
While it remains unclear which daughter he showed Hypnotic to, Affleck told THR that his young “It will be a good hunt.Fans were “engaged and interested” in the coming-of-age drama – and that it was “probably the most satisfying experience of my life.”
However, on Friday former Batman star was focused on his latest film. Affleck, who said Rodriguez had a “daring style,” told ET that the thriller is an example of “old-fashioned filmmaking” and “relied on story.” Meanwhile, Garner recently stated that their children are more important than their parents.
“They don’t mind seeing their dad, but they kind of want me to be their mom.” Garner told Allure earlier this week. “They don’t want to see me upset and women cry more because of what we do. And they don’t really want to see me in romantic things.”
