Arrest warrant for Putin, war and weapons are the main topics of the BRICS meeting in South Africa

BRICS foreign ministers on Thursday announced their bloc’s ambition to compete with Western powers, but their talks in South Africa were marred by questions about whether the Russian president would be arrested if he attended the August summit. South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said her country is considering options if Vladimir Putin, who has a war crimes arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, attends the scheduled BRICS summit in Johannesburg.
