Andy Murray left furious after being denied the opportunity to go to the bathroom in the middle of his five-set marathon against Thanasi Kokkinakis at Australian Open.

The old world is not. 1 bounced back from a two-set deficit against Kokkinakis and left a decisive fifth set between him and the win.

During the break before the final frame, Murray asked to go to the toilet, but the referee in the chair told him that he was not allowed, as he had already been in the match once.

“Do you know something? I respect the rules. It’s a joke, it’s a joke, and you know it too,” the 35-year-old judge told the judge.

“It’s so disrespectful that the tournament keeps us here until 3-fuck-four in the morning and we’re not allowed to piss.

“It’s disrespect for you, it’s disrespect for the kids with the ball, it’s disrespect for the players, and we are not allowed to go to the toilet. It’s ridiculous.”

This is not the first time that restrictions on the use of the toilet by players have made headlines during a Grand Slam tournament. Novak Djokovic seemed to take matters into his own hands to take an early toilet break after winning the first round.

The Serb asked to go to the bathroom after just five games in a match against Roberto Carbales Baena on Tuesday, but the referee didn’t seem to hear Djokovic, so he could be heard saying “hello” three times to get her attention before Djokovic said, ” I AM”. I’m going to the toilet.”

The 21-time Grand Slam winner ran off the court as the referee yelled “Novak” after him. Although the referee was heard to say that he had 30 seconds to return, Djokovic returned to the court before the timer expired and won the next game comfortably.

Djokovic subsequently denied that he violated the referee’s orders when he went to the restroom.

“So she told me (you didn’t catch it on camera) I need to hurry up. When I almost left the court, she called me (I did not hear) and said that the toilet was on the opposite side of the court, ”Djokovic wrote on Instagram.

“I found one that I also went to and I had to rush because of the time. I didn’t “defy” her or the rules. She gave me permission and told me to hurry up.”

Murray’s outburst or inability to go to the bathroom did not deter Murray, although he scored a famous victory in the final set that lasted a total of five hours and 45 minutes – the longest match of Murray’s illustrious career.

The match, which took place in Melbourne at 4 am, was another reminder of the qualities that Murray and I met: perseverance, determination and a “never give up” attitude.

Murray will now play at No. 1. Roberto Bautista Agut with 24 seeds in the third round.
