AmCham: Unilever plant a boost for PH
UNILEVER Philippines Inc.’s move to open a beauty, wellbeing, and personal care manufacturing facility (BWPC) in General Trias, Cavite underscores a progressive shift in the domestic business environment, the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Inc. (AmCham Philippines) said.
“AmCham is thrilled with the recent inauguration of Unilever Philippines’ cutting edge BWPC factory in General Trias, Cavite. AmCham Philippines and its executive director, Ebb Hinchliffe, believe this new undertaking is a testament to the forward-thinking vision that Unilever embodies,” it said in a statement on Saturday.
AmCham also said that it was upbeat on the company’s sustainable manufacturing strategy would lead to a reduced environmental impact.
“With increased manufacturing efficiencies and its optimal location in Cavite, the company can significantly reduce its carbon footprint with less waste and less fuel usage,” the business group said.
“With recent changes in packaging, the company documented 25 percent less plastic use for deodorant products, in line with the company’s global commitment towards a waste-free world,” it added.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who led the inauguration of the new factory on Friday, said more than 5,000 direct and indirect job opportunities awaited Filipinos.
The new plant is expected to increase the country’s competitiveness and help attract foreign direct investments.
“With cutting-edge technology at the helm, we are confident that this new venture will establish a benchmark for progressive and innovative business practices,” AmCham said.
