Aesthetically pleasing computer peripherals: the DUNE mouse

The DUNE mouse by Fabio Verdelli Design Studio is one of the most striking examples of sculpted computer peripherals. Since the main focus in developing such tools is to increase functionality and efficiency, it is rare for someone to develop an aesthetically exciting version.

The DUNE mouse bears some resemblance to the Apple Magic Mouse in shape. However, the studio went further, creating textures with “transparent bits of linear vents meant to attract the eye.” Unlike the original Apple version, which was all white, the DUNE mouse has a copper-colored arc. As the name suggests, Fabio Verdelli Design Studio was inspired by the sand dunes when creating this sculptural computer peripheral, and that may be the reason for the color choice.
