Actor Jonathan Majors arrested for assault in New York

NEW YORK (AP) — actor Jonathan Majors was arrested Saturday in New York on charges of strangulation, assault and harassment, authorities said.

The NYPD said Majors, the star of the recently released “Credo III” And Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania. got into a domestic quarrel with a 30-year-old woman. Police responded around 11 a.m. to an emergency call from an apartment in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.

“The victim told police that she was attacked,” an NYPD spokesman said in a statement. “Officers detained the 33-year-old man without incident. The victim suffered minor head and neck injuries and was taken to the district hospital in a stable condition.”

An NYPD spokesman confirmed to The Associated Press that he was no longer in police custody as of Saturday evening.

A Majors spokesperson denied any wrongdoing on the part of the actor.

“He didn’t do anything wrong,” a spokesperson said in an email to the AP on Saturday. “We look forward to clearing his name and finding out.”

The Majors are one of the fastest growing stars in Hollywood. After breakthrough in 2019 with The Last Black Man in San Francisco. Majors has starred in Five Bloods, The Harder They Fall, and last year’s Devotion. He is also starring in the recent Sundance film Store Dreams, which is due out in December by Searchlight Pictures.
